FOCUSED ON
THE INDIVIDUAL
Crescent’s team of experienced pharmacists and nurses
qualify patients for home chemotherapy based on the following
criteria:
Safety
Patient’s disease state and past therapies
Length of infusion
Patient’s clinical stability
Drug and drug regimen
Reimbursement
Before admitting a patient for home chemotherapy, we make sure the patient is
motivated and the home environment is safe. We verify that a caregiver is available
for support, that the patient is medically stable and that the prescribed chemo
agent is safe for home use. We make sure the lab data are within acceptable ranges,
that the patient has an appropriate access device and that a plan is in place
for adverse events, should one occur. Our thorough qualification process helps
ensure patient safety, satisfaction and positive outcomes.
HIGH-TECH NURSES
Many of Crescent’s infusion nurses are certified
in chemotherapy administration. Our nurses work directly
with the chemotherapy agents so that patients don’t
have to. We also teach patients about side effects and
symptoms to report and how to care for their access devices.
Our caring and knowledgeable nurses can help alleviate
some of the stress that patients receiving chemotherapy
experience.
